About Me
Where architecture meets the lens

I shape light, form, and detail into images that bring your spaces to life.
Who I am
I am Madushan Indika De Silva, an architectural photographer based in Sri Lanka and the founder of MadFactory. I am a graduate of the University of Moratuwa, and my work focuses on architectural photography, interior photography, and hotel and resort photography. I am interested in how spaces are designed, how they function, and how light defines them throughout the day.
How I started
My professional journey began at BT Options. There I worked across architectural and interior photography, hotel and resort projects, travel, nature, commercial, and food photography. During this time, my images appeared in Explore Sri Lanka, Serendib, and Business Today. I also photographed projects for The Architect and Domus Sri Lanka. These assignments gave me a strong technical base and showed me how carefully planned photography can support design, publishing, and marketing.
Learning from Architecture and Travel
Later I spent several years living in Europe and travelling across different countries. I used that time to study both historic and contemporary architecture through the camera. I paid attention to how light moves across facades, how interiors change from morning to night, and how details guide the eye. This period helped me refine a clean, precise approach to architectural and interior photography and strengthened my understanding of the built environment.
MadFactory Today
In 2017 I returned to Sri Lanka and began building MadFactory as a dedicated architectural photography practice. Since then, I have worked with award-winning architects, leading architectural firms, premium hotels and resorts, villas, and commercial clients. My aim is clear. To produce high-quality, accurate, and honest photographs that respect your design intent and support your goals in portfolios, competitions, publications, and marketing.
How I Work With You
Every project starts with listening. I take time to understand your brief, your design language, and the audience you are speaking to. From there, I plan the shoot, including locations, angles, light, and timing, and I coordinate with your team on site. Retouching is handled with care so that colours, materials, and atmosphere stay faithful to the real space while meeting publication and brand needs.
Alongside architecture and interiors, my background includes food photography and commercial product work. This is especially useful for hotels, resorts, and hospitality projects where the building, interiors, food, and guest experience all need to be photographed in a consistent visual style.
Where I Work
I work across Sri Lanka, including Colombo, Galle, Mirissa, Matara and the southern coastal belt, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Trincomalee, the Western and Eastern regions, Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Yala, and the North. Wherever your project is located, my role as an architectural photographer is to present your work in images that are considered, clear, and aligned with your design vision.
